My Quilt

Well, I can finally finish my quilt book. I found it yesterday and then I found all of the other things I had gathered to put in it. Here's the story. For each of my sibling's 40th birthdays I made them a scrapbook. So, for my 40th, my mom was going to make me one. I asked her to make me a quilt instead since I had done so much of my pictures already. So, the year before I turned 40, she began this quilt. Well, I got it this year for my birthday. I can't believe how much it means to me. Just to look at the underside of it and realize that all of the quilting stitches were done by hand is amazing. (Click on the underside picture and look at it close up.) It took her six years because both her and my dad got sick and she wasn't able to do it much. As it says in the corned: PROMISED - 40, COMPLETED - 45, AUGUST 2009, LOVE MOM! I took it home that night, changed my sheets and pillowcases and layed it on my bed. When I went to sleep that night, it was like being tucked in by my mom and feeling that she was taking care of me. So, the next day, I got a few different colored throw pillows and sheets so everything would match. Now I have to change the four canvas's in my room that I did in the Periphery Line. Oh, well, more fun on the way.

Summer 2009

So, every year I do a page of who/what/where I am at this point of my life. This is it. As you can see, I've been reading quite a bit. Today I found out why I haven't had the energy to do anything more than read. My iron level is really low. The doctor said the range for iron is between 20 - 120 to be healthy. My iron is at 3. Ya, 3. So, given that, he understands why I have no energy to do anything; which is why I feel so lousy, why I have been gaining weight and wanting food that is no good for me. Well, hopefully by my next birthday, I will be feeling better.

"17"

Jader wanted a cake like I used to make when they were kids so I went to Michaels and got all of the necessary stuff to create a cake of some kind. I got a pan that could be made into any kind of animal. The look on her face was priceless when I let her taste the icing. She said it reminded her of when she was six. She wanted a yellow and pink giraffe. Its antlers fell off but she was okay with that. Anyhow, she enjoyed her cake.

Cards

I made twin cards for my sister and sister-in-law for their birthdays on August 26th. I used scraps from the mini album I made last week.

Torch 12

This was Lucas's 12th birthday. Most of his friends were out of town on holidays so we did a lot of things over the course of the month. This day Dillon and Reed came over for a sleepover. They played video games, watched movies, ate McDonalds, chips and pop and then had this cake. Dillon thought it would be great to put all of the candles together in the center of the cake. This, of course, turned into a torch when lit. As you can tell, they had a blast.

My Little Book

I had fun making this book. I have always loved the papers and since we are expecting a ton of new stock in the store, this line is on its way out. So, I decided to make something out of the sheets I had. I guess you could almost call it a tag book since most pages have tags tucked in them. There is still room for embellishing but, as we all know, a book like this is never done. So I posted it here for Penny and I will keep working on it this summer.

Yabba Dabba Doo -- Bedrock City 1975

Ya, I was a kid in the 70's and it really was fun. I am the one in the front of BamBam's car driving.

Us Girls '68

Back to the sixties. I am the younger one in the pictures. Then there is my mom and my sister Donna. I made the flower out of hearts from the die cut machine.

Been Hunting Long?

I got a kick out of doing this page. Remember the farmers talking about how long they'd been farming and then the little boys talking about it. Well, this picture of my brother and my uncle reminded me of the picture so much and really . . . they were probably talking about how long it had been since they had been hunting together.

Silly Girl

It was weird. I did this page and then Ralna told me she had done one similar. I think they may be on the JSI Blog. I thought I was being so brilliant because I used the scalloped die from the store and then the Tonic Circle cutter to cut out the inside. Low and behold, Ralna had just used it too. Very similar ideas inspired by the cover of a magazine; but totally different pages.

Angelic

I left this page for last because I am particularly happy with it. This is my "hand down, all time favorite" picture of Sky. I loved the little curl on her head and the angelic look on her face. I have waited years to scrap this picture. The color was unmatchable! I Glimmer Misted the entire background paper. I Glimmer Misted the brown roses and lace. I Glimmer Misted the title and the flourishes. I love this page. Partly because I love the picture, partly because I love my baby Sky and partly because these are my favorite colors together. It is such a happy page for me. And, yes, I made the dress. I made all of my girls their first princess dresses.

Wings Tattoo Faith

For Faith's Grade 12 Graduation present, her father bought her this tattoo. It says "Never Give Up" and has her twin sisters' names on it. I got the before picture a day before the tattoo was done.

WUTEVR

THIS TOO IS SKY . . . BUT NOW . . . THIS IS WHAT SHE DOES WHEN I ASK HER TO SMILE. SHE IS REALLY A PRETTY GIRL, BUT LIKE HER MOM, DOESN'T LIKE THE CAMERA.

My Helper

There was always a chair pulled up to my kitchen counter with someone's small hands helping with food preparation. It didn't matter whether it was baking or appetizer making, they held the spoons, spun the bowl or tasted whatever we were making.

Queen of the Remote

This has always been a favorite picture of mine. I guess with the colors, it should have been easy to scrapbook. I have taken it out a few times; but the paper didn't fit. Well, Sky is 14 now, so it really took awhile to get together.

Rolling Down the River

While at Bare Butt Beach, I got these pictures of Lucas rolling in the sand and then jumping in the river. He loved it. Couldn't believe he could have this much fun this close to Saskatoon. I Glimmer Misted the paper first, then the letters and swirls. I put Stickles swirls on the pages too. The pictures are pretty much what Bare Butt Beach is and always will be about.

Sing Your Heart Out

I think everyone knows that I dislike doing "holiday" pages. I found this picture of Lucas singing his heart out and had to scrap it. Later I noticed that they are all holding hearts. So, it all worked out.

Happy "If You Can Call This Summer"

Well, I'm on Eclipse. I have been waiting for this book for three days. Couldn't sleep because I didn't have anything to read. Maybe I'll get to sleep before 4 am tonite. Probably not with the new book. Anyhow, have some new pages and will get them photographed and up asap. Well, Faith has graduated Grade 12, she got a tattoo for a grad gift from her dad. You will see that page shortly. My Jader turned 17 today and Lucas turns 12 the day after tomorrow. See, I am staying busy. Hope you are all enjoying your holidays.
