The Girlz

Told you I'd be one of the girls in "orange". Actually I kind of liked my dress. My daughters said that I looked beautiful. It's amazing what a gown, updo and make-up can do for a "jeans and t-shirt kind of girl". Of course, that's me on the left. Pamela is beside me. Kara is next to Pamela and Heather is on the opposite end. We all got along well. We loved the fact that despite our distance from each other (B.C., Sask and Manitoba), we all ended up wearing very blingy flip-flops with our dresses (& no heels).

The Bride and her Daddy

From the time we arrived out at Champetre County, we contemplated the location for the wedding ceremony: inside the Saloon or outside in the Garden (the original plan). The weather forecast called for the possibility of a thunderstorm. The ceremony was at 3pm -- we would decide at noon. Considerably later than that, it was decided that we would go with the Garden idea since Rhea and Michael had their hearts set on it. Not a drop of rain fell -- up until Rhea began her walk down the isle. The entire time we stood outside for the ceremony, it rained. The bridal party giggled the entire time. Rhea and Mike snickered a bit too. The minute the documents were signed and we walked back down the isle, the rain stopped. It didn't rain the rest of the day. Thanks to the good sense of humor of the Bride and Groom, the silliness of the Bridal Party and the amazing talent of Sheryl who did hair and make-up for the girls -- no one could tell we had gotten so wet. Everyone's clothes, make-up, hair looked perfect the rest of the day. The only thing worse for wear was the temporary marriage license which dried by the next day.

Unique Wedding Photo

I will be scrapbooking Rhea's Wedding photographs for her (and with her). This should be a very interesting journey as you can tell by this particular picture. Rhea's family owns and operates a Dairy Farm in British Columbia while Michael and his family own and operate a Black Angus Farm just outside of Saskatoon. I learned (during the course of the weekend) that there is a rivalry between Dairy and Beef farmers. I also learned that there is different ways to prepare them for shows (and portraits at a wedding). I learned to keep my mouth shut about any aspect of them since I don't even know the correct terminology to refer to them by. They are not modest, they spook easily, they eliminate in proportions unseen by a city girl. They snot, drool and are fond of pretty orange and red bouquets of flowers. The pure mass of them is astounding. This is not a formal photograph -- it is a candid taken from behind the photographer. Take a look at the Ring Bearer's face. Rhea, I can hear your laugh from here!

Busy, Busy Life

Rhea's wedding is this weekend, so I had to get the girls and spud new clothes. It's a bit of a kick in the head when your daughter likes and looks good in a dress like this. I have been very busy with going back to work, getting the kids back to school, going to my highschool reunion and now Rhea's wedding. I should be able to get some pages done after the wedding. I am doing her album so I may even have some wedding pages on here for you. I hope everyone has a great weekend -- we'll chat next week -- I hope!

2nd Nature

At the end of August, my mother and I went out to watch my daughter Sky ride her horse. After walking through the pasture for awhile, tacking up Neeko, visiting with the llamas, other horses, cats, dogs and donkey; Sky rode for us. The entire time, she had a smile on her face. She talked to the horse and made sure he wasn't ridden too hard. She had treats in her pocket (which Neeko kept trying to get at) so she could give him some whenever she felt he needed one. She spends most of her free time outside with "her animals". She loves being at the farm and riding. It is second nature for her to ride bareback and run through the fields with her "friends".

American Muscle

Again, I missed Cruise Weekend; but Cal took tons of pictures for me to scrapbook. I picked out my favorites and developed them along with his. The Basic Grey Obscure line looks great with each and every picture. I used a little black acrylic paint on this one, sandpapered, added a skunk stripe and a title and I was done. One of those simple pages that I love.

What can I say . . . one of the funniest experiences of my life: after heating up some hard-boiled eggs, Cal tried to stab one with his fork and the darn thing blew up . . . everywhere . . . we screamed and then laughed as Cal stabbed a couple more . . . just to see what would happen.

Mini Family Album

Since I couldn't take my children to my 25-Year High School Reunion, I made a 3" x 3 album with pictures of them as young children and now. This particular album I bought at JSI and liked it because it had minature page protectors in it of which you could add to. It came with 10 page protectors which was all I needed for this project. I used up scraps for the entire book since it was so small. I made wallet-sized photos which fit almost perfectly. It was quick and fun and everyone loved it.

My Love for Fast Cars

Under most circumstances, if asked, I would spend the vast amount of my spare time scrapbooking. That is, unless I am given the choice to spend a sunny day cruising around in a fast, old car. A new small car is wonderful for when I am looking for fuel efficiency; however, I am talking about my other, other passion. When it is not about my children, my man, my career, my family or hobby of scrapbooking. When I just want to do something for myself: sitting in a 60's or 70's Firebird, Camaro, Corvette, 'Cuda, Charger, Challenger, GTO, GTX, Roadrunner . . . the list goes on (but ends abruptly before Mustangs) is what soothes stress in me and gets my adrenaline pumping. I love the sound of 350 or 400 Big Block and as crazy as it sounds I love the smell of gas, grease and leather interior. Chrome is a thing of beauty as is the lines of these cars. Well, as you can tell, I spent part of the weekend taking a look at some cars. This one is my favorite . . . having had two of them myself and driving them whenever I could. I rebuilt the 400 in the 1967 and loved driving it (mainly because it had a vertical shift and rumbled when it idled). Enough car talk, I'll get to scrapping the pictures as soon as I get them developed. Hope everyone else had a great weekend.

Love You Madly Sweet Love You

Used up some older paper here, a scalloped heart, some bling, rub-ons, buttons, flowers, did some doodling and added some of the flower grid chipboard from the Maya Roads tin. I painted it pink and figured out how to make it into a heart. The xoxo on the bottom are also from the grid chipboard pieces with STICKLES on them. Another PINK page for my PINK Jaderoo.

Basic Grey

Basic Grey pricing has come down a bit (thanks to the Canadian dollar). We still have some in the store and will hopefully be getting more in soon (I can't stop using it -- it is wonderful) The colors seem to work well with so many different kinds of photographs. pUGLY dogs

Used some of the Jolee's Boutique stickers for these older pictures of Cal with his two Chinese Pugs. These pups were unique. The Runt (Lincoln) was bought first and Kleff came from another family when she was two or three. Lincoln thought that she was the boss and constantly tried to prove it. They were originally bred as fighting dogs in China and you saw it daily in Cal's house. I think the funniest thing about them was the "lack of bark". Lincoln "barked" at the TV every time there was an animal on it -- she was the ultimate "tough chick" but she could fit in a shoe box.

Mutant - Cal at the Water Fight

A little new, a little old. I used a new basic grey line here and some old embellishments. The circular grid is from a Maya Roads tin. I painted the grid black and used a few of the circles on the bottom -- painted them green and put glossy accents on them.

Sharon and Dionne

This was my favorite picture Dionne and I took while she was in town. We visited a few times around her family reunion commitments. In May, she helped raise money for Breast Cancer by agreeing to shave her head if they reached a certain goal. It is starting to grow back now. Lucky for Dee, she can pull off pretty much any hairstyle (as we have seen before). Fortunate for me, the picture worked well with my favorite new line of Basic Grey.

Journalling

It's a blue blue kind of day (overcast). I loved the thunderstorms over the weekend; however, it didn't do much for the hair and dressy clothes during our 25th Highschool Reunion. Got some photos, gettin' more online soon. Album up and coming! Again, not home, can't upload pictures of my new pages. Will try to do so tomorrow if I can get to MY computer. Gearing up for Rhea's wedding. I'll be one of the ones in ORANGE.

Dionne

Dionne was in Saskatoon today. I snapped a few photos and will try to scrap them and get them blogged soon. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

This Book Belongs to Lucas

The Scenic Route Collection of Stickers had this "This Book Belongs to . . ." so I used it with my favorite picture from his party . . . one that captures the mood of the day . . .I am around on my 40th page of the album. Done the waterfight, the gift opening and the guests. Still have to work on cake, nintendo and breakfast. Hope to be done soon.

Lucas' Birthday Book

I used the Scenic Route Paper and Sticker line for Lucas' Birthday Book. The sayings and colors were perfect.
I took pictures of each of the kids that came to Lucas' Party. They were all soaking wet but happy and in a rush to get on with their war.
The neighbor got in on the fight. There seemed to be so many pictures that I wanted to use so I used them all.

Lucas' 8" x 8" Birthday Album

I am twenty-five pages into an 8" x 8" album for Lucas about his birthday party. Forgot my camera today, but will try to get some pages online for you asap. Used Scenic Route paper and stickers which have worked very well. Makes an album easy and fast.

Earth Muffin

Deb coined this phrase for me. Sky is my nature lover. She takes care of plants, animals, insects, reptiles, etc. So, when Deb saw these pictures, she called Sky my Earth Muffin. To me, a muffin is a healthy comfort foot and Sky is happy and healthy when she is outside in nature. The term fit her perfectly. Her favorite color is green, so I went with this Crate Paper line. The title is a Technique Tuesday acrylic font that I colored in with our fantastic gold gel pens. "Muffin" is chipboard painted.
